Apps can be so much more than just fun things. They can provide businesses with the information they need while on the move. There are apps that are programmed into the phone and do all of their work from the handset: An example of this would be a calculator or a tetris game. Other apps direct the user to a website where the information required is viewed on their phone via a web browser in much the same way that websites are viewed on a PC or MAC. An app that tells you the weather would be an example of this. Most of these apps are for fun, but you can also use specially written 'apps' for business.

Members Area App for Mobile Phone Sales Company
DCS Ltd are a business to business mobile phone sales company specialising in large contracts, typically from 50 to 1000 handsets per contract.
They required an app for the NOKIA E-72 that would allow new customers to register their handset with them to allow for easier downline support and sales.
This app, activated from a bespoke designed icon in the applications area of the phone, allowed immediate access to a members area without the need for the customer to surf the web or enter a lengthy URL.
A database in the background held all members login details, as well as the IMEI and phone number. Users could choose their own login and password as part of the registration process.
